The Department of Digital Media and Communication (DDMC) of the Ionian University is organising a Scientific and Informative Conference entitled Environment, Recycling, Communication, which will take place on Tuesday, 10 November 2026, from 10:30 to 15:00, at the Ionian University premises in Argostoli, Kefalonia (“G. Arsenis” Auditorium).
The event is open to the public and invites the academic and local communities to participate in a timely scientific discussion and exchange of views on a range of issues relating to the communication management of matters, applications and emerging challenges associated with the Environment and Recycling.
The conference will focus on the following thematic areas:

Environment, Communication and the Green Transition

Recycling: Strategies and Applications in the Digital Age
The programme includes presentations by professors and researchers specialising in Political Communication, Digital Communication, and Food and Environmental Technology, as well as by representatives of local and national organisations active in the fields of waste management, the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment and batteries, environmental education, and other related areas.
At the opening of the conference, welcome addresses will be delivered by: Professor Spyros Polykalas, Chair of the Department of Digital Media and Communication; Professor Konstantinos Poirazidis, Dean of the School of Environment at Ionian University; and Lecturer Kostas Ant. Petrakis, Chair of the Conference Organising Committee.
The thematic sessions will be moderated by Assistant Professors Patricia Gerakopoulou and Anastasia Katsaounidou of the Department of Digital Media and Communication.
It is worth noting that the Organising Committee also includes volunteers from the Department of Digital Media and Communication and its KYKLOS DDMC team.
Certificates of attendance will be issued to participants who register for the conference.
