The team representing the Department of Digital Media & Communication at the 1st Simulation of the Council of the European Union (MOCEU) is now complete. Following the Department’s representation in the Council of Ministers, its students will also play an active role in the event’s Press Team.

The simulation is an academic initiative aimed at university students, organised by the Student Association For International Affairs (SAFIA) with the academic support of Europe Direct Attica, and will take place during November. It recreates the functioning and legislative process of the Council of the European Union, giving participants the opportunity to take on roles corresponding to those involved in the actual EU decision-making process.

The topic of the simulation is the EU Internal Energy Market, as energy is one of the most pressing global challenges of our time.

In addition to Charalampos Totakis, who will take on the role of Minister of Energy of the Republic of Cyprus, the following students will join the Press Team:

  • Leonidas Gkougkaras and Melina Theodosiou, as members of the Irish Presidency’s Press Office, responsible for the Council’s official announcements.

  • Sofia Marmaridou, as a journalist representing the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

  • Elisavet Orologa, as a journalist representing the Spanish newspaper El País.

Five students from the Department, different roles, and a shared hands-on experience in EU decision-making, negotiations and institutional communication.
