Student of the Department of Digital Media & Communication Selected for the 1st Simulation of the Council of the European Union
Charalampos Totakis, a student of the Department of Digital Media & Communication at Ionian University, has been selected to participate in the 1st Simulation of the Council of the European Union (MOCEU), an academic initiative aimed primarily at university students, organised by the Student Association For International Affairs (SAFIA), with the academic support of Europe Direct Attica. The simulation will take place during November.
The simulation follows the actual decision-making structure of the Council, including Working Parties, Permanent Representatives, the Council of Ministers, and a Press Team. Participants will represent the delegations of EU Member States and engage with one of the most critical and multifaceted issues on the European policy agenda: the EU Single Energy System.
As part of the simulation, Charalampos Totakis will take on the role of the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Cyprus, participating in the Council’s final negotiations on one of the most pressing global issues of our time: energy.
Through his participation, he will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the functioning and decision-making process of the Council of the EU, while developing negotiation, cooperation and policy-making skills in a simulated European negotiation environment.
