Europe Direct of the Region of Western Greece and Europe Direct Ionian Islands – Ionian University co-organised the event “EPAS Schools in Action: From Education to Active European Citizenship”, which took place on 22 April at the “Kefalos” Municipal Theatre in Argostoli.
Students from four General Lyceums in Kefalonia and Achaia took part, all of them European Parliament Ambassador Schools (EPAS). More specifically, the participating schools were the General Lyceum of Pastra, the General Lyceum of Lousika, the General Lyceum of Kleitoria, the 13th General Lyceum of Patras, as well as the invited Vienna Business School HAK/HAS Mödling from Austria.
The students presented their actions in their local communities, their work in raising awareness about the substance of European identity, and their communication with the European Parliament. Their themes reflected the issues that concern them: disinformation and democracy, media literacy, the environment and the climate crisis.
At the same time, presentations on these themes were delivered by academics, teachers and specialists in climate transition, while Valia Kaimaki, Head of Europe Direct Ionian Islands – Ionian University and Assistant Professor at the Department of Digital Media and Communication, delivered a greeting.
